A crafted and deliberate life plan was not on my radar. With nothing but insatiable curiosity, enthusiasm and wanderlust, I joyfully threw out my wings, leaving my hometown in New England and landing in NYC, where I hustled as a bartender, nightclub manager, and later, a massage therapist. In time, I grew hungry for my next adventure, so I moved to San Francisco, where my work ethic led me to individuals and experiences I never imagined.
I worked my butt off as a commercial flight attendant, a private aviation concierge, personal assistant, interior decorator, real estate project manager, executive assistant, business development manager, and chief of staff for a women-led Silicon Valley venture capital fund. I even had the good fortune to work for The New York Times. Phew!
But, despite the job, I found myself perpetually helping people achieve their goals — whether in their careers, tackling challenges, or taking charge of their finances — which led me to my passion, path as coach and the tenets I uphold in my work: heart, mind, body, soul and wallet.
- A co-worker with little experience confided in me her plans to quit because of stress. I shared with her what had made me successful and coached her through her assignments. Eventually she thrived and moved on to a higher profile role.
- I mentored several self-employed young women with putting their finances in order and helped them set up retirement accounts.
- I was a motivator for a former boss starting their own company.
- I encouraged a friend who was a chef to open his own restaurant — he now owns two..
- An acquaintance came to me worried about her career path and I helped her get clarity and enroll in nursing school: today she’s a nurse anesthetist.
- I supported a highly successful alcoholic friend to purge his distractions and lifestyle to simplify, go inward and get sober.
- I helped a friend in heavy debt to make a clear plan to pay off her debt.
- I supported a friend with his communication and perspective in a troubled relationship with his father that was mended before an untimely death.
I was deemed a “fixer” by colleagues and derived great pleasure from creating solutions out of chaos. But ultimately, my work did not have the right combination for the lasting satisfaction, happiness, and freedom I needed for a full life. Although I was productive at my jobs and “making it” by helping others continue to build on their successes, my sense of joy, freedom and purpose waned. My pilot light was going out and I realized that fear — and a good paycheck — had held me back from embracing my true core self.
Through my life’s journey, the lessons and wisdom gained had become my M.O. I vowed to never look back and I immediately began shaping/crafting my life.
For years, I was challenged by the extremes of holding onto my freedom at all costs and having job security. It took a long time floundering with confusion and indecisiveness to find my sweet spot. In all, I have connected with people from a wide range of social and economic backgrounds to help them find their strengths, potential — and often, their way out of the unnecessary suffering they were experiencing. Somehow in nearly every situation I found myself in, I became a de facto coach.
In a deliberate and crafted life, I believe anything is possible. As your coach, I will support and guide your personal evolution and will help you get out of your own way. I will help you find the clarity to capitalize on your unique core strengths for the direction to realize — and achieve — your goals and desires for a full life.
